(no subject) [Dec. 13th, 2005|07:11 am]
Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In May I gave change to a homeless guy (19 points). Last Monday I turned [info]pixiedustjunkie in for littering (3 points). Last Sunday I ruled Canada as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). In June on a flight to Bangladesh, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). In October I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points).

Overall, I've been nice (683 points). For Christmas I deserve a new bike!

Sincerely,
Gibbdash

Chronicles of Narnia [Dec. 10th, 2005|12:15 am]
[mood |enthralled]

Ok, So I went with T and her family to see Narnia tonight, and man, it was really well done. Religious overtones aside, I have always loved the book series and the movie definately did the books justice!!

I highly recommend you see it!!!!

On a different note, does anyone know of a good picture hosting service they could recommend to me?

Sleep Apnea Pt 2 [Nov. 16th, 2005|08:00 pm]
[mood | chipper]
[music |Duran Duran - I Just Died in your Arms Tonight]

So yeah, I have it.

Sleep Apnea is classified as your brain waking you up to breathe more than 5 times per hour while sleeping. Basically your breathing becomes so strained that you cant breathe, and your brain wakes you up JUST enough to breathe. Your body never hits REMs and never gets into a deep sleep. 30 times an hour is very severe. I wake up on average 53 times an hour. So now I have a CPAP machine. It constantly blows air up my nose so it keeps my airway open. I was a bit skeptical, but last night, man, best night of sleep in a LONG time. I felt great this AM.

Ill post some pics of the CPAP later!

Positioning [Nov. 8th, 2005|11:10 pm]
[mood | contemplative]
[music |Picture - Kid Rock]

Ok, for those of you that know me, gaming and gaming politics are a very passionate subject for me. I figured a post stating where I stand on a few things would help preface future rants and ramblings.
1) Rating System: As it is now, the ESRB ratings are legally only a recommendation.  Unlike Movie ratings, if a 12 year old goes into any game store to purchase a game, they are solely subject to the stores policies, which, as I have experience vary greatly from location to location.  Most game chains such as EBGames or GameStop do have an overlying policy, but the only thing to enforce it at a store level is the managers discretion.  My position on the ESRB?  Make it laws.  We've already established that this isnt a restriction on freedom of speech; nothings stopping the child's parents from purchasing the game in question for them, and it completely takes the moral questions out of the hands of store managers and sets it to law.  So while you may see some ranting here regarding the weakness of the ratings system, its solely because its a voluntary issue.

2) WYSWYG.  What you see, is what you get.  You give your child 50$ and let him roam around the mall, be prepared for what he brings back.  Don't go running into the game store asking 'why did you sell this ultra-violent game to my child??!'.  The answer you'll get is 'Well, I have to sell 50 copies of that today, and well, your son wanted it.'  If you're SOOO concerned about what your son is purchasing, accompany him into the store.

3) Jack Thompson.  Oh man.  This guy both helps gamers and hurts them all at once.  He pioneers the anti-game movement, representing parents that wonder why their son went on a postal rampage and blame the first thing that they see: Video Games.  His extremist approach has garnered him some very flammatory responses from other blogs, but personally, I think the guy is really representing the far side SO much, he is bringing the prespective back around for some people.  Ill post some fun links to his escapades soon.

Anyways, just a few subjects, feel free to ask questions!

[mood | calm]

Ok first off, http://www.childsplaycharity.org/

If you havent done any charity this year, with Katrina and everything, or if you want to donate again, this is an excellent charity to donate to.  Its put out by the funny men over at Penny Arcade.  It helps children in hospitals all around the globe, and donations of anything are accepted!

Mozilla Vs. IE [Nov. 8th, 2005|04:36 am]
Well, I've always tried out different browsers, and usually after saying "oh wow, I really like browserX", I would end up returning to IE. Well, not tonite. On this sleepless night, I've decided to make the switch, to hop over to Mozilla Firefox for good! Teresa has been having some popup issues, and I'm wondering if they are IE related or something else. I figured better safe than sorry!!! If anyone has any cool Firefox addons, feel free to let me know :)

For those of you that Dont have it, find Firefox at www.mozilla.com
